About the role
- Provide support to the Area Leadership Team with asset management, production planning, stocking parameters and capacity planning
- Assist in sourcing and capacity planning to ensure timely production and delivery of products (cylinders, pallets, and trucks)
- Develop capital expenditure budgets and coordinate capital expenditures
- Review production plans and operational schedules; establish priorities and sequencing, assuring quality specifications are met
- Drive improvements to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); compile, analyze and review production and operating reports
- Improve/resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
- Communicate routinely with the Area Leadership Team regarding progress, obstacles, issues and improvements
- Conduct routine facility visits to evaluate performance, safety, compliance and training gaps; inspect machines and equipment
- Provide leadership regarding safe work habits and coordinate annual safety meetings for the area
- Lead and support the incident review committee and development of safety improvement plans
- Develop and communicate site procedures and reports; maintain registrations and permits for OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA, state regulations and Airgas SOPs
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices specific to the site and coordinate SAP procedures and training
- Ensure plant and branch associates are trained in SMS, DOT and other regulatory policies and operations
- Review delivery sites and standards to assure safe deliveries
- Hire, train, motivate, plan and direct work, manage performance and resolve associate issues
- Provide customer support for operational requirements including site visits as needed
Requirements
- Undergraduate Business, Engineering, Operations Management degree or degree in a related area of study required
- In lieu of degree requirement, may accept an additional four years of related experience in addition to the required experience minimum
- Minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility in manufacturing operations or related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of compliance with applicable federal/state regulations, gases and related hard goods, DOT regulations, truck and trailer loading limits, cylinder markings, test dates, pressure ratings, ICC markings, placarding, hazardous material classifications, DOT driver qualifications and record keeping, vehicle purchasing and maintenance requirements, accident reporting, and safety and compliance
- Considerable independent judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations
- Ability to balance customer service and cost of service issues; tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers and handling proprietary information
- Achieves results with a sense of urgency addressing time sensitive needs
- Financial acumen for articulating ROC and other business metrics
- Strong project management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and create cross-functional alignment
- Excellent communication skills, especially in development of action plans and ensuring accountability and follow-through
- Must be proficient with SAP utilization and system capabilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Requires use of computer, telephone and operation of a motor vehicle
- Frequent regional travel by automobile up to 50% of the time, minimal to no overnights
- Must be able to occasionally work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees
