About the role

  • Provide technical support to field teams for high-voltage distribution equipment and high-voltage motors/generators.
  • Solve electrical equipment issues and coordinate technical response across Air Products facilities.
  • Supervise vendor shop repairs of high-voltage motors and equipment to verify quality and workmanship.
  • Document critical work with repair reports to support traceability and long-term equipment history.
  • Develop engineered solutions to eliminate recurring electrical issues.
  • Improve plant reliability by trending performance data and updating maintenance procedures.
  • Lead and participate in root-cause analyses (RCA) and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Develop and complete predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for critical electrical assets.
  • Apply internal and national standards when specifying, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment.
  • Review and approve engineering documents for plant upgrades and reliability projects.
  • Train, coach, and mentor technicians and operations staff on safe operation and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Ensure all work aligns with Safety and Environmental standards and supports a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain company electrical safe work practice standards aligned with industry standards and recommended procedures.
  • Perform power system studies, including motor starting/voltage drop, short-circuit, arc-flash, and load-flow analyses.
  • Program protective relays using settings developed from system studies and validate performance through event analysis.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience, including operations and maintenance in large industrial plants.
  • Experience handling an electrical safety program, including detailed knowledge of NFPA 70E.
  • In-depth experience with SKM PowerTools for Windows engineering software.
  • In-depth experience with SEL and Multilin protective relays, including programming and event analysis.
  • Experience specifying and supporting HV substations and associated equipment (transformers; HV/LV motors and generators; motor control circuits; VFDs; station batteries; and UPS systems).
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of synchronous generators and the associated control and protection systems
  • Experience with NERC standards and compliance for a generating facility.
  • Ability to travel in North America (15–20%).
