About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide pre-hospital advanced life support from initial patient contact through handoff to the accepting medical facility
- Assess, triage, treat, and document patient care
- Maintain competency through laboratory, clinical, and educational experiences
- Maintain required licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation and safety training, OSHA and HIPAA training, clinical rotations, and advanced procedures documentation
- Attend at least six practice-related educational programs per year
- Maintain and report failures of medical equipment and supplies
- Keep aircraft clean, orderly, and adequately supplied for patient care
- Participate in patient and referring institution follow-up, outreach marketing, and education activities
- Attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and complete required documentation
- Assist with liftoff checklists and support the pilot with radio, navigation, and visual observation activities
- Conduct aircraft safety briefings as needed
- Serve as a flight resource to neonatal and pediatric personnel
- Perform advanced skills and procedures approved by the Medical Director(s)
- Serve as a role model, educator, and clinical resource
- Participate in departmental activities, projects, committees, research, and publishing opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED and at least three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years’ recent experience in a busy 911 system
- Previous critical care transport and flight experience is a plus
- Maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including empty flight suit and boots
- Skills required to practice as a paramedic under the assigned state scope of practice
- Advanced practice skills as defined by the Medical Director(s) and Medical Standards
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and 24/7 on-call rotation
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Registered EMT-P licensed in the state(s) served
- National Certification may be required for state licensure
- FP-C or CCP-C specialty certification required within two years of hire
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS or equivalent certifications
- Advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS certification if required by the state or country
- TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TNATC, or CAMTS-approved advanced trauma course before third-rider orientation, with accompanying advanced skills lab
- NRP certification before third-rider orientation
- NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat upon hire
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong critical thinking, reasoning, attention to detail, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
- Dependable and self-motivated in a frequently changing environment
