About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate, educate and oversee the delivery of patient care, clinical quality and compliance for an assigned group of bases
  • Coordinate with clinical division leadership in the development, implementation and execution of new and existing standards, clinical quality management programs, educational and training standards and documentation.
  • Assist Clinical Director II with interface with AMS leadership as well as Regional leadership safety, risk and compliance teams, and clinical education team to ensure effective provision of medical care provided, including compliance with required AMC training, CAMTS and any state/county required standards.
  • Monitor and identify clinical care trends in area of responsibility (documentation and reported issues) for potential significant events or patterns; strategize Clinical Director II to share solutions
  • Responsible for oversight and control of medical supply expenditures for assigned bases.
  • Assures efficient movement from third rider to second rider status; adjust clinical teammate assignments, schedule or training plan to assure efficiency
  • Oversee the quality improvement program for assigned bases, clinical chart review, statistical analysis, multi-disciplinary dashboard; audits documentation, escalates potential issues and implements changes as directed to meet require standards.
  • Facilitate medical director involvement as needed within the chart review process; assist with communication to medical directors regarding, pertinent clinical concerns and issues and other topics as appropriate.
  • Participate in clinical investigation and remediation as indicated upon request by the Clinical Director II.
  • Participate in clinical hiring screening process by providing scenario testing and participating in interview processes upon request of the Clinical Director II.
  • Provide input on annual performance appraisals for clinical teammates to Area Managers; provides input with performance management issues as appropriate
  • Assist the Clinical Director II ensuring compliance to local, state, Commission of Air Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) and Air Methods and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Assure bases are prepared for CAMTS accreditation/re-accreditation. Escalate any issues as necessary to Clinical Director II.
  • Assist the Clinical Director II assuring all teammate clinical licenses/credentials are properly documented and current for billing and operations compliance
  • Oversee, support, and mentor the clinical base lead in their responsibilities set forth within the clinical base lead job description.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in management or health-related field and three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or paramedic program
  • Previous flight nurse or flight paramedic experience required; critical care ground transport experience may be acceptable
  • Previous management experience in a flight program, preferred
  • Specialty certification (CFRN, CCRN, CEN, FP-C, CC-P) required, CFRN/FP-C preferred
  • Five (5) years’ experience in critical care/emergency nursing or EMS
  • Understanding and demonstration of balancing financials with operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
  • Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Current RN or paramedic licensure for state(s) of practice
  • Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, Approved AMC trauma credential
  • Specialty Certification (CFRN, CCRN, CEN, CTRN for nurses; FP-C or CC-P for paramedics)
