About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Electrical Engineers at United Rotorcraft are responsible for the design, integration, analysis, and certification support of electrical and avionics systems for aviation rotorcraft modification programs operating under 14 CFR Parts 27 and 29.
- Engineers operate across the full lifecycle of engineering data from concept development through release ensuring solutions are safe, manufacturable, compliant with applicable FAA regulations, and aligned with internal standards and project Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Core deliverables include electrical system integration wiring diagrams, wire routing documentation (in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering), harness fabrication documentation, electrical load analyses, system safety artifacts, and test plans and reports.
- Electrical Engineers work closely with Project Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Certification, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure successful program execution and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university; and 10 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 years previous experience directly related to aircraft electrical/avionics systems preferred
- Understanding of FAA certification processes, aircraft operations, and electrical/communication and navigation systems
- Ability to Interpret and use aircraft manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, equipment installation instructions, and wiring diagrams
- Proficient understanding of 14 CFR Parts 21, 27, and 29 and independently develop required reports, analysis, and artifacts showing compliance thereto.
- Proficient with SAE ARP 4754A and ARP 4761B and independently develop required reports, analysis, and artifacts showing compliance thereto.
- Capacity to lead the electrical aspects of multiple projects with support from junior engineers
- Strong/ demonstrated ability to explain complex requirements, technical concepts, and timelines up, down, and across the enterprise
- Strong ability to assess task- and project-level Level of Effort (LOE) in support of quoting.
- Ability to develop complex system safety analyses and associated volumes based on certification requirements and customer needs (ARP 4761B)
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (2D) and Solidworks (not required, but preferred)
- INCOSE ASEP Certification, preferred
