About the role
- Define and maintain the global payroll process model, policies, and standards.
- Establish a clear governance framework to ensure all payroll activities are executed consistently and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by analyzing existing processes, leveraging new technology (e.g., automation, AI), and implementing best practices.
- Actively participate in, and often lead, major payroll projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related process issues and escalations.
- Define and monitor KPIs and SLAs with both internal teams and external payroll providers; Ensure that payroll services are delivered accurately, on time, and within budget.
- Oversee the overall performance of external payroll providers in close collaboration with regional contract managers; Lead contract negotiations, manage vendor relationships, and ensure providers meet their contractual obligations and deliver high-quality services.
- Drive the adoption of new payroll processes and systems.
- Stay up-to-date on global payroll regulations and compliance standards; Develop and enforce controls to minimize risks, ensure data privacy, and maintain compliance across all countries of operation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in payroll, and especially in large-scale payroll system implementations and process harmonization projects.
- Deep knowledge of global payroll processes, regulations, best practices, and strong understanding of payroll systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Payroll Providers).
- Professional certifications such as FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) are a plus.
- Process improvement certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.
