About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Underwrite assigned risks under general direction
  • Handle large accounts and/or more complex risks
  • Communicate risk appetite and Retail Property Value Proposition to brokers
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other underwriters
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions to be underwritten
  • Recognize and create cross selling opportunities
  • Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers
  • Participate in special underwriting projects as needed
  • Develop long-term relationships with brokers and clients
  • Mentor and train less experienced underwriters
  • Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 3+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Advanced working knowledge of lines of business in Retail Property
  • Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment
  • Comfort with analytical tools and technology
