About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Underwrite assigned risks under general direction
Handle large accounts and/or more complex risks
Communicate risk appetite and Retail Property Value Proposition to brokers
Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other underwriters
Evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions to be underwritten
Recognize and create cross selling opportunities
Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers
Participate in special underwriting projects as needed
Develop long-term relationships with brokers and clients
Mentor and train less experienced underwriters
Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 3+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
Advanced working knowledge of lines of business in Retail Property
Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience
Very strong verbal and written communication skills
Highly motivated and results-oriented
Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment
Comfort with analytical tools and technology
