About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitoring, analyzing and advocating on developing laws and regulations and participating in internal forums and with trade associations to provide input on impacts and represent company positions.
- Designing and providing oversight and escalation support for governance and compliance programs, including maintaining internal policies and procedures and supporting regulatory filings and exams, securities disclosures, investigations and audits.
- Advising on and managing legal responses to operational, cybersecurity and privacy events and incidents and maintaining incident response plans and procedures.
- Collaborating with members of the Information Security Office and Information Technology departments to advise on legal and regulatory requirements, issues and risk management.
- Working closely with transactional attorneys, business partners and procurement professionals to update and maintain contract templates and playbooks; handle escalations from transactional teams in support of vendor agreements, B2B client RFPs / agreements and other contractual relationships.
- Providing thought leadership on emerging issues and educating Corebridge personnel by developing and undertaking training on important topics.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of experience practicing law, preferably a combination of large law firm and in house roles in relevant practice areas and with experience advising publicly traded companies in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- A J.D. degree from an accredited law school and an active and in good standing bar membership in the state of the hiring location.
- Demonstrated commitment to this area of law and able to independently identify opportunities and drive improvements in line with industry standards and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels and in non-legal roles.
- Project management and organizational skills to effectively prioritize support, anticipate obstacles and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
