About the role
- Handle and investigate complex marine claims as a Major Loss Adjuster
- Proactively identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims and deal with them per guidelines
- Regular contact with internal stakeholders, brokers, (medical) experts, clients' lawyers, and victims or their legal representatives
- Build effective relationships with internal and external customers and act as a point of referral
- Provide support to Team Managers and deputize in their absence
- Assist with monitoring market/industry practices in claims handling
- Use claims experience to help improve products in collaboration with underwriting
- Promote and demonstrate 'Treating Customers Fairly' principles in claims handling
- Deliver responsive, fair and professional service with empathy and efficiency
Requirements
- Knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements for marine claims
- Specialist knowledge of marine technical claims topics (preferred)
- At least some experience in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
- Lateral thinking and the ability to problem solve and develop new ideas to improve working practices
- Strong communication, time management, administrative and report-writing skills
- Willingness to be primarily in the office (in-person collaboration)
