About the role
- Managing reinsurance claims and collections for North American ceded business
- Overseeing a team of professionals managing domestically serviced Pro Rata collections
- Mentoring collections staff and instilling an environment that aligns with company objectives
- Monitoring the sub ledger and various reports for timely address of claim and account queries
- Developing strong working relationships with reinsurers, brokers, intercompany departments, and vendors
- Investigating/researching requests from internal/external customers
- Providing guidance and recommendations on process improvements
- Collaborating with analytical teams to provide critical data
- Conducting research into reinsurance recoverables and contributing to periodic reporting.
- Driving and enhancing the collection of reinsurance recoverables.
- Interacting with Reinsurance Legal regarding disputed loss cessions.
Requirements
- 6+ years of reinsurance/insurance experience in claims and/or accounting
- Prior management experience a plus
- Understanding of reinsurance and insurance concepts for all reinsurance types
- Proficient with information technology, particularly Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Strong analytical skills to quickly identify, gather, and assess information
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management and intercompany departments.
- Understanding of general accounting fundamentals and ability to reconcile complex reinsurance transactions.
