About the role
- Callidus: legal generative-AI platform transforming the $1T global legal market
- More than 1,000 paying lawyers; ARR growing >20% MoM
- Hands-on Principal/Staff Full-Stack Engineer role (individual contributor)
- Design, build, and maintain customer-facing features end-to-end
- Engineer reliable, scalable Gen-AI workflows (hybrid RAG, agents, chains of thought)
- Collaborate daily with lawyers and product; own large ingestion/summarization projects
- Uphold code quality, security, and performance via reviews and automated tests
- Tech stack includes: Azure, Python (FastAPI), Redis, Postgres, React/Next.js, Node; AI: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Meta, Mistral
Requirements
- Full-stack engineering in Python + React/Next.js
- Proven record of shipping high-quality products quickly
- Experience working with LLM APIs and prompt engineering
- Ability to implement sophisticated LLM techniques (hybrid RAG, hallucination guardrails, agentic workflows, agents)
- Startup or LLM-focused company experience
- Ability to commute to San Francisco office ~3-5 days per week
- Clear, concise communicator
- Ownership mindset and strong problem solving
- Genuine excitement for AI and willingness to take on demanding role
- Nice-to-haves: Legal/LegalTech experience; DevOps skills on Azure; personal use of AI tooling; automation side projects; engineering degree
