About the role

  • Callidus: legal generative-AI platform transforming the $1T global legal market
  • More than 1,000 paying lawyers; ARR growing >20% MoM
  • Hands-on Principal/Staff Full-Stack Engineer role (individual contributor)
  • Design, build, and maintain customer-facing features end-to-end
  • Engineer reliable, scalable Gen-AI workflows (hybrid RAG, agents, chains of thought)
  • Collaborate daily with lawyers and product; own large ingestion/summarization projects
  • Uphold code quality, security, and performance via reviews and automated tests
  • Tech stack includes: Azure, Python (FastAPI), Redis, Postgres, React/Next.js, Node; AI: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Meta, Mistral

Requirements

  • Full-stack engineering in Python + React/Next.js
  • Proven record of shipping high-quality products quickly
  • Experience working with LLM APIs and prompt engineering
  • Ability to implement sophisticated LLM techniques (hybrid RAG, hallucination guardrails, agentic workflows, agents)
  • Startup or LLM-focused company experience
  • Ability to commute to San Francisco office ~3-5 days per week
  • Clear, concise communicator
  • Ownership mindset and strong problem solving
  • Genuine excitement for AI and willingness to take on demanding role
  • Nice-to-haves: Legal/LegalTech experience; DevOps skills on Azure; personal use of AI tooling; automation side projects; engineering degree
