About the role

  • Prepare detailed designs for HVAC, steam, and industrial process piping projects
  • Perform HVAC and piping system load calculation, equipment selection, ductwork and pipe sizing, control sequence creation, and specification development
  • Provide information to estimating team relative to bid packages
  • Provide engineering input into operation plans for system commissioning and start-up
  • Lead customer interactions and site visits to understand building usage and internal processes
  • Create all documents for submission & permitting, and interact with field teams to ensure installations and commissioning are successful
  • Work with DX & chilled water cooling, electric & hot water heating, low and high pressure steam, natural gas, compressed air, condenser water, commercial & industrial ventilation, and exhaust systems
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and provide assistance to Ahern’s regional offices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in HVAC systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Wisconsin professional engineer’s or designer of engineering systems license preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and load calculation software preferred
  • Strong understanding of the mechanical codes and industry standards
