About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and implement scalable Databricks data lakehouse architectures for federal data solutions
  • Develop and optimize end-to-end data pipelines aligned with federal performance, security, and compliance requirements
  • Implement data governance and security protocols under federal standards including FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST
  • Gather and analyze requirements with federal stakeholders and translate them into actionable data solutions
  • Integrate Databricks with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and other federal cloud platforms
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Databricks, Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, and Apache Spark
  • Optimize Databricks clusters for cost efficiency, high availability, and performance
  • Enable advanced analytics and machine learning workflows using MLflow and related frameworks
  • Develop real-time data processing solutions for mission-critical federal applications
  • Monitor federal data policies and align solutions with relevant compliance requirements
  • Lead cross-functional teams and mentor technical teams on Databricks best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5–10 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or distributed data processing
  • At least 3+ years of hands-on Databricks experience
  • Proficiency in Databricks SQL, Delta Lake, and the Lakehouse platform
  • Expertise in Apache Spark and distributed data processing frameworks
  • Advanced knowledge of Python, Scala, or Java
  • Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or Google Cloud Public Sector
  • Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data workflows, and data transformation pipelines
  • Strong understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, data modeling, and schema design
  • Experience implementing data governance and security protocols in regulated environments
  • Knowledge of FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and CMMC
  • Experience securing federal data architecture, including encryption and access control
  • Advanced SQL expertise for querying and managing large relational datasets
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams delivering complex data solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging federal stakeholders
  • Experience training and mentoring technical teams on Databricks best practices
  • Preferred: CI/CD pipelines and Databricks workflow/notebook deployment
  • Preferred: Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates
  • Preferred: Machine learning pipelines and Databricks MLflow
  • Preferred: TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
  • Preferred: Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or AWS Kinesis
  • Preferred: Hadoop, Flink, or Elasticsearch
  • Preferred: Real-time analytics and event-driven architectures
  • Preferred: Preparing technical documentation, reports, and presentations for federal audiences
  • Advanced Databricks certifications are preferred
  • Federal cloud and cybersecurity certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CCSP, CISSP, or CISM are preferred
  • Public Trust or higher clearance eligibility and prior federal client experience are preferred
