About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and field hardware, software, network systems, and in-service applications at designated customer field sites
- Conduct pre-deployment testing and validation for integration into federal IT environments
- Support large-scale hardware rollouts, infrastructure upgrades, and system modernization initiatives
- Diagnose hardware, software, and network connectivity issues affecting agency networks
- Determine whether outages result from commercial circuit failures or internal facility defects
- Implement remediation, including component replacement, and escalate complex issues to Tier 3 field engineering
- Collaborate with colleagues, customer representatives, internal management, external vendors, NOCs, network engineers, and field technicians
- Execute scheduled deployment windows and conduct site surveys
- Coordinate escalation paths between field technicians and back-office engineering groups
- Prepare site deployment reports, post-installation verification logs, and incident post-mortems
- Update project schedules, tracking matrices, and asset management databases
- Inform program leadership and customer stakeholders about progress, risks, and deployment bottlenecks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Secret clearance required and must be held before starting
- CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications required
- BA or BS degree and five years of experience, or a high school degree
- Seven years of experience performing IT technical support for federal customers
- Expertise with Cisco Layer 2/3 devices
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Palo Alto firewall products
- Experience supporting a rotating on-call schedule and on-call requests
- DHS or CBP experience
- Microsoft Windows and Linux operating system experience
- Must be able to travel around the United States
