About the role
- Lead human-centered design practices across discovery, strategy, and delivery
- Conduct and synthesize user research (interviews, workshops, workflow analysis)
- Translate user needs, technical constraints, and mission goals into clear product design solutions
- Design and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for complex systems
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Program Leadership to ensure feasibility and delivery
- Present design rationale, insights, and recommendations to senior stakeholders and customers
- Support design alignment across teams through documentation, design systems, and standards
- Travel periodically to U.S. Air Force bases to engage directly with users and stakeholders
Requirements
- 6+ years of Product Design or UX Design experience
- Bachelor’s degree in design, human factors, related field or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of experience in product design, UX, or human-centered design
- Proven experience designing complex or enterprise software products
- Strong foundation in user research, interaction design, and information architecture
- Experience presenting design work and strategy to stakeholders
- Ability to work within regulated, constrained, or high-stakes environments
- Comfortable collaborating in cross-functional, agile teams
- Willingness and ability to travel to government sites across the U.S
- Experience in GovTech or government, defense, or federal contracts (preferred)
- Familiarity with operational, logistics, or mission-critical systems (preferred)
- Experience aligning design work to technical architectures and data models (preferred)
- Background in DesignOps, design systems, or scaling design practices (preferred)
