About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications
- Prepare accurate budgets and cost estimates for competitive bids
- Prepare bid documentation and respond to RFQs
- Review subcontractor submittals against project drawings and specifications
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors during the pre-construction process
- Support pre-construction communications, documentation, and project logistics
- Manage multiple estimating and pre-construction tasks simultaneously
- Review plans, specifications, and project requirements to identify scope, quantities, and potential issues
- Maintain organized estimating and project documentation
- Work within construction software and digital workflows to support estimating and project coordination
- Proactively identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential estimating or pre-construction issues
- Take ownership of the estimating and pre-construction process
- Help reduce operational workload for a lean construction team
- Work independently, take initiative, and keep projects moving without constant supervision
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–10+ years of construction estimating experience; approximately 3–6+ years of hands-on estimating experience
- Proven experience estimating U.S. construction projects
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent hands-on estimating experience will also be considered
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with construction estimating software and digital construction workflows
- Familiarity with Bluebeam
- Familiarity with Autodesk Build and AI-assisted estimating tools such as Toggle, or ability to learn new software quickly
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; fluent English required
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects or project phases
- Comfortable working full-time and being dedicated to a single client
- Previous experience working for or alongside a U.S. general contractor preferred
- Experience with public or private education construction projects preferred
- Experience handling both estimating and pre-construction coordination preferred
- Experience reviewing subcontractor submittals and project documentation preferred
- Familiarity with RFQs, bid packages, subcontractor coordination, and pre-construction workflows preferred
- Willingness to work U.S. Central Time hours
- Comfortable with a month-to-month employment structure and two-week notice flexibility
