About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for multiple real estate properties.
Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
Perform monthly reconciliations for multiple accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Assist in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, including variance analysis and reporting.
Track and report on property-related expenses, capital expenditures, rent collections, and tenant deposits.
Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and financial reports.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment posting, and vendor management.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and providing necessary information.
Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and improve financial controls.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, property management, or investment firms.
Proficiency in real estate accounting software (such as Yardi, MRI, or RealPage), AI tools (such as Claude and ChatGPT), and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel advanced skills.
Understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and real estate accounting.
Certifications: CPA or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
Big 4 accounting firm experience is a plus.
