About the role
- Your task is to care for patients before, during and after surgical procedures.
- As a full member of the operating room team, you ensure that the physicians always have the appropriate instruments and supplies at hand.
- You are also responsible for instruments and materials — for example, you are responsible for the sterilization of instruments after surgery.
- The three-year training program alternates between theoretical instruction and practical training and always begins on September 1.
- You will learn how to support patients before, during and after surgical interventions.
- You will become familiar with possible surgical procedures, their workflows and potential complications.
- You will learn the skills for pre- and post-operative preparation as well as assistance during surgery, and you will learn about the various surgical techniques.
- You will be able to operate specialized medical-technical devices in the surgical area efficiently and safely.
- You will understand what needs to be considered in diagnostics and therapy.
- You will carry out responsible patient documentation.
Requirements
- You are at least 17 years old.
- You hold a Realschulabschluss (secondary school leaving certificate) or an equivalent school qualification, possibly supplemented by a successfully completed vocational training of at least two years’ duration, or you have authorization to use the professional title “Nursing Assistant” (Krankenpflegehelfer:in).
- A grade average of up to 3.0 in the natural science subjects.
- An internship in the operating room prior to application can be an advantage.
- You can provide vaccination or immunity records for tetanus, mumps, measles, rubella, hepatitis B and varicella (chickenpox).
- You will provide an enhanced criminal record certificate (the employer will provide a letter to support the application).
- Valid residence permit.
- Proof of German language proficiency at level B2.
- Certified translations of your certificates.
- Recognition of your foreign school-leaving certificate by the Federal Republic of Germany.
