About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support Practice and Industry Groups with marketing and business development initiatives
- Develop knowledge of attorneys, clients, experience, and capabilities and translate it into value propositions for new business
- Prepare pitch materials and assist with RFP, proposal, and business development presentation development
- Track business development outcomes
- Assist with drafting and executing business plans
- Develop meeting agendas and coordinate and participate in practice and industry group meetings
- Develop and monitor business development budgets
- Develop and maintain marketing collateral, including practice group descriptions, brochures, lawyer biographies, presentations, case and transaction lists, and website or blog content
- Maintain and update the experience database, representative client lists, and matter or deal descriptions
- Assist with Chambers, The Legal 500, and other legal directory ranking and award submissions
- Coordinate competitive intelligence research on prospective targets, industries, markets, and competition
- Coordinate participation in seminars, sponsorships, and conferences
- Identify and evaluate external sponsorship and speaking opportunities
- Liaise with Finance, Conflicts, Diversity, the Office of the General Counsel, and other business service departments to gather information for RFPs and pitches
- Report to a Senior Business Development Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business development goals and objectives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required; Business, Communications, or Marketing concentration preferred
- Minimum of two years of marketing or business development experience
- General understanding of business development within a law firm environment
- Prior law firm or professional services experience preferred
- Experience with CRMs, content management systems, and proposal generation tools is a plus
- Excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading, and written communication skills
- High-level interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressure
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with attorneys, professional staff, team members, client development executives, and administrative departments
- Strong time management skills and experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making capabilities
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with AI tools and best practices
- Flexibility to occasionally adjust work schedule according to workload demands
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
