About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team
Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems
Support team members throughout delivery
Collaborate with product management, design and analytics during ideation and product development
Articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions considering risks and trade-offs
Identify, advocate for, and lead resolution of project, process, technology or business issues
Create and monitor metrics for team artifacts

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale
Experience using languages like Python or Kotlin
Track record developing highly available distributed systems
Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
Experience working close to web and mobile layers
Understanding of frontend design patterns such as fraud prevention and backend-for-frontend
Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components
Elegant, simple and extensible design skills
Ability to write high-quality, understandable code
Proficiency making significant changes in a large code base safely
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan
