About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, leading engineers through ambiguity and ensuring support throughout delivery
Collaborate with infrastructure, product management, developer experience and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle
Participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on risk and trade-off decisions
Identify technical solutions and operational processes that improve incident readiness, response and post-incident analysis
Support operations and availability of team artifacts through metrics, escalation and on-call efforts
Set or improve code review and design standards and advocate for them through writing and tech talks
Develop team talent through feedback, guidance and leading by example
Define SRE frameworks and best practices, build tooling, and provide training and consulting
Provide data and visibility on application performance
Guide development of SLOs
Drive Incident Management and Analysis
Steer Change Management and Deployment practices
Engage in service and architectural discussions
Recommend observability and alerting configurations

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale
Proficiency with scripting and development languages such as Bash, Python or Kotlin
Track record developing highly available distributed systems
Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
Meaningful experience contributing to or driving Incident Lifecycle processes
4+ years working on a Site Reliability or Production Engineering team
Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components
Experience writing high-quality, understandable and reusable code
Experience making impactful changes in large codebases
Experience developing tools and practices for safe changes
Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team
