About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team
Lead engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems and support them throughout delivery
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle
Participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on risk and trade-off decisions
Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues
Support operations and artifact availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call efforts
Establish and improve code review and design standards
Advocate for engineering standards through writing and tech talks

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale
Experience using Python or Kotlin
Track record developing highly available distributed systems
Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
Experience building and managing workflow orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, or Luigi
Experience or working knowledge scaling Spark or Flink for extremely large datasets on Kubernetes
Ability to define technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible designs
Ability to write high-quality, understandable code
Proficiency making significant changes in a large codebase safely
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
