About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate to ensure timely delivery
Collaborate with product management, design and analytics during ideation and technical decision-making
Articulate technical constraints and evaluate risks and trade-offs
Create and monitor metrics for team artifacts and escalate issues when needed
Support operational availability, keep-the-lights-on activities and on-call efforts
Participate in growth and development activities, including interviews
Build and operate systems handling post-transaction customer account accuracy and issue resolution for Affirm Card transactions

Requirements

What you’ll need

1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems
Proficiency in Python or Kotlin
Familiarity with distributed systems building blocks
Familiarity with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
Ability to design solutions interacting with multiple software components
Ability to write clear, well-tested and extensible code
Ability to navigate a large codebase and debug others' code
Experience providing feedback through code reviews
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
