About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build and maintain backend services using TypeScript and modern Node.js
- Develop serverless applications deployed on AWS Lambda
- Build and maintain APIs using OpenAPI-first design
- Work with AWS services including S3, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, EventBridge, API Gateway, CloudWatch, KMS, Secrets Manager and Parameter Store
- Build infrastructure using AWS CDK
- Develop secure, scalable services that support payment workflows and terminal connectivity
- Own features end-to-end: from design through deployment and production support
- Improve platform reliability, observability, performance and resilience
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making
- Mentor other engineers and help maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong experience building backend applications with Node.js and TypeScript
- Experience designing and operating serverless architectures on AWS
- Strong understanding of event-driven systems and distributed architectures
- Experience working with APIs and modern backend development practices
- Comfortable working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform or similar
- Strong understanding of testing, CI/CD and engineering best practices
- Experience working with cloud-native systems at scale
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, product and QA teams
- Fluent English communication skills
- Bonus if you have:
- Experience in payments, fintech or banking environments
- Knowledge of PCI DSS or secure development practices
- Experience with streaming/event platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, or EventBridge
- Strong observability mindset (logging, tracing, monitoring)
- Open-source contributions, technical writing or community involvement
