About the role
- Establishes and maintains smooth operation of computer NIPR, SIPR and Mission systems in networked or stand-alone configurations.
- Maintains system integrity, and upgrades systems and/or servers as required.
- Creates and documents new methods supporting network/system operations and implements changes to procedures.
- Consults with support teams, help desks, customers and other technical staff in the resolution of problems.
- Coordinates and performs operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers.
- Identifies recurring problems and recommends steps to reduce the severity or frequency of problems.
- Plans for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies.
- Utilizes system software to monitor the performance of system files.
- Manages system data to maintain performance efficiencies and/or studies system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
Requirements
- Must possess an active DoD SECRET clearance, or higher.
- Must have one of the following DoD 8140.03 compliant certifications CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GICSP, GSEC or SSCP or be able to obtain within 60 days of starting work.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/System Administration with 5 years of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Must have proficiency in managing and troubleshooting various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Unix.
- Must have strong understanding of network protocols, configuration, and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Must have experience with server hardware, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Must have knowledge of security best practices, firewalls, VPNs, and data protection.
- Must have proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automating tasks.
- Must have experience with backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and execution.
