About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, map, measure, analyze, and improve routine to moderately complex clinical and business processes, problems, and information requirements for assigned Epic applications
- Perform current and future workflow analysis and map critical business processes using business process reengineering techniques, industry standards, and best practices
- Prepare business requirements documentation using case diagrams, data flow diagrams, data models, and object models
- Evaluate whether proposed solutions meet business and clinical needs
- Translate user requirements into functional and technical design specifications and review them with users
- Prioritize requirements based on business needs and discuss technological impacts
- Configure applicable systems to meet business requirements
- Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts
- Conduct unit, integration, system, and end-user acceptance testing; track problem reports and document outcomes
- Provide client and support training by developing training materials and training trainers and end users
- Monitor system functionality and clinical and business processes, instituting changes as needed
- Explain assigned applications and related systems to users and assist them with full application functionality and process flow
- Develop and maintain product documentation, workflows, requirements, specifications, installation instructions, test procedures, user manuals, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines
- Complete change and quality control documentation
- Communicate project status and upgrades to clinic users, including potential delays or downtime
- Manage multiple user requests and balance priorities
- Schedule and manage application version upgrades
- Serve as a resource for assigned applications and assist with support and troubleshooting
- Respond to user calls as necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Computer Science or related field
- Typically requires 3 years in an IT or clinical environment
- Experience with business process mapping, analysis, defining business and user requirements, acceptance testing, and documentation
- Obtain EPIC certification(s) within 6 months and maintain annual educational requirements as required by the department
- Experience using applications, operating systems, and databases, including basic hardware, platform, connectivity, and interface design
- Experience in Epic and other healthcare applications
- Project management experience and ability to use project management software
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, balance multiple tasks, set priorities, and complete assignments timely
- Organizational and analytical skills
- Strong problem and issue resolution skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work closely with healthcare application users, vendors, and technical professionals
- Ability to translate user requirements into system specifications
- Understanding of change management practices and procedures
- Understanding of technical components and how they relate to applications
- Ability to perform work-related travel
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform job duties
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally
