About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Welcome patients and support their transition into care
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed
- Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver coordinated care
- Support providers and connect with patients as part of the ambulatory care team
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation when needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 45 days unless deemed unnecessary by the department leader
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma
- LPN: Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited or approved Practical Nursing program
- MA: Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience within the last 5 years
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
- Must be able to lift and support 35 pounds
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 pounds of force and perform a 150-pound sliding transfer with a second person
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch; fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
- Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required
