About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed
  • Perform lab-related tasks, including specimen collection and point-of-care testing
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care
  • Support the care team through clinical and administrative tasks vital to patient care
  • Maintain professionalism and compassion during patient interactions
  • Follow relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must have a medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience, or be a certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience, to qualify
  • Phlebotomy skills are preferred
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to lift and support 35 pounds
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
  • Must be able to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch required
  • Fine hand manipulation skills required for IV insertion and other procedures/functions
  • Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
  • Ability to perform physical safety interventions and verbal de-escalation if needed
  • Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease; protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required
  • Additional department-specific physical requirements may apply
