About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform comprehensive professional evaluations of patients of all assigned ages for differential diagnosis of communicative, cognitive-linguistic, feeding, and/or swallowing disorders
  • Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Educate patients and/or caregivers about communicative, cognitive-linguistic, feeding, and/or swallowing disorders
  • Serve as a speech pathology consultant to educational, medical, and other professional services
  • Provide and participate in in-service education and training for speech pathology interns and fellows, medical students/residents, and allied medical personnel
  • Maintain or improve patient care services and evaluate opportunities to develop new services
  • Evaluate augmentative/alternative communication options and recommend or fit appropriate devices or prostheses when applicable
  • Provide age- and development-appropriate patient care according to Age-Specific Care Guidelines
  • Meet financial/budget and inpatient care expectations
  • Promote a cooperative work environment through communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
  • Current license in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the applicable state Board of Examiners, or temporary license for an employee in Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, unless in Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers, CPR, and AED certification
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, with intermittent weekend coverage once every 8 weeks
  • Ability to provide coverage in both outpatient clinic and acute rehabilitation settings
