About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform comprehensive professional evaluations of patients of all assigned ages for differential diagnosis of communicative, cognitive-linguistic, feeding, and/or swallowing disorders
- Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Educate patients and/or caregivers about communicative, cognitive-linguistic, feeding, and/or swallowing disorders
- Serve as a speech pathology consultant to educational, medical, and other professional services
- Provide and participate in in-service education and training for speech pathology interns and fellows, medical students/residents, and allied medical personnel
- Maintain or improve patient care services and evaluate opportunities to develop new services
- Evaluate augmentative/alternative communication options and recommend or fit appropriate devices or prostheses when applicable
- Provide age- and development-appropriate patient care according to Age-Specific Care Guidelines
- Meet financial/budget and inpatient care expectations
- Promote a cooperative work environment through communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
- Current license in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the applicable state Board of Examiners, or temporary license for an employee in Clinical Fellowship Year
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, unless in Clinical Fellowship Year
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers, CPR, and AED certification
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, with intermittent weekend coverage once every 8 weeks
- Ability to provide coverage in both outpatient clinic and acute rehabilitation settings
