About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide efficient, high-quality service to patients arriving for appointments or contacting the clinic by telephone or in person
- Schedule appointments and provide information about tests, procedures, bills, charges, referrals, and other matters
- Enter billing information for patients and payers at the time of service
- Follow up accurately on missing billing information
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records according to practice and medical group standards
- Support providers and connect with patients as part of the ambulatory care team
- Rotate between clinic locations in Lutheran General, Park Ridge, Glenview, Des Plaines, and Buffalo Grove
- Work rotating 8.5-hour shifts, including a lunch, within clinic hours of 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years of related customer service experience
- Experience handling difficult callers, customers, or patients
- Ability to function in a high-volume, multitask environment
- Ability to work in a crowded or closely shared workspace
- Ability to work under stressful conditions with demanding customers
- Ability to work around exposure to ill patients
- Must lift up to 35 pounds without help
- For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when a patient cannot assist, use patient-handling equipment with at least one other associate when available
- Must be available Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
