About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care according to established standards, policies, and procedures
  • Support Pediatric Triage, UW Health Specialty Clinics, and Specialty Triage
  • Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making
  • Help create the safest patient environment and best patient experience across the continuum
  • Provide compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients
  • Respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions
  • Perform IV insertion and other nursing procedures
  • Perform patient safety interventions, including restraint and verbal de-escalation when needed
  • Handle patients, medical equipment, and supplies while following required protective measures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
  • Must be able to lift and support 35 pounds
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 pounds of force
  • Must be able to perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch
  • Fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
  • Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
  • Ability to respond quickly to patient or unit condition changes
  • Ability to work around chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease using protective clothing and equipment as necessary
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required
