About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Fully remote position with the Virtual Hospital Medicine team supporting Atrium Health King’s Mountain in King’s Mountain, North Carolina
- Schedule consists of 7 on / 7 off overnight shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays
- Responsibilities include virtual admissions, overnight cross-coverage, and ongoing clinical management for adult hospitalized patients utilizing Advocate Health’s virtual care platform and Epic electronic medical record
- Perform initial and periodic medical histories, physical examinations, and daily assessments
- Perform comprehensive virtual admission history and physical examinations for adult hospitalized patients
- Provide overnight virtual admissions, cross-coverage, and ongoing clinical management
- Record findings of examinations, assessments, and plans of care
- Write appropriate prescriptions and administer medications
- Order and interpret daily laboratory and radiology examinations
- Determine treatment plans for patients in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Document all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and activities in a medically appropriate manner within the patient’s medical record
- Collaborate with Hospital Medicine physicians, bedside APPs, nursing staff, consultants, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, case management, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and communicate recommendations to bedside care teams
- Act as a patient advocate for the population served
- Attend, participate in, and contribute to group/practice meetings and policy development as requested
- Perform additional duties within the scope of licensure and credentialing
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Nurse Practitioners must hold a Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice with ACNP or AGACNP board certification
- Physician Assistants must hold certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina
- Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license
- BLS for Healthcare Provider (AHA) must be valid at least 90 days beyond start date
- Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, or other acute inpatient experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform thorough history and physical assessments
- Ability to function within a multidisciplinary team
