About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency when providing patient care
- Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings
- Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered
- Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking
- Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests
- Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
- Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training per DD214 in lieu of formal medical assistant program or EMT
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required or Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 45 days
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
