About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Leads the shift or area/program by assigning, monitoring, and reviewing the progress and accuracy of technician work
  • Acts as a resource for the team, providing day-to-day direction and guidance on complex issues, resolving conflicts when necessary and fostering a positive work environment
  • Assists leadership with teammate interviewing, selection, development, and engagement
  • Creates staff schedules and monitors performance, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Trains, orients, and educates team members, ensuring competency and completion of required training program
  • Identifies quality improvement opportunities and collaborates with leadership to design and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety and engagement
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and ensures proper documentation and compliance with legal, regulatory, and accrediting bodies
  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels, processes drug recalls and ensures appropriate handling of controlled substances
  • Reviews billing processes, adjusts patient bills as necessary, and processes charges and credits for medications where appropriate
  • Acts as a role model for safe, effective and efficient care, demonstrating the skills and knowledge necessary for pharmacy technicians

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements
  • Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT)
  • Typically, 3 years of work experience in applicable work setting
  • Highly effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional customer service, problem resolution and process development skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, take initiative, and to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office, email, internet access, electronic pharmacy management systems, and pharmacy ordering and inventory systems
