About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assists with patients using appropriate techniques and procedures to perform minor hearing aid repairs, cleanings and programming
  • Sends hearing aids out for difficult or extensive repair
  • Orders new hearing aids for patients as directed by audiologist
  • Assists audiologist in direct patient care as needed per site
  • Communicates with audiologist and other members of the health care team
  • Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient questions and needs
  • Performs occupational health hearing tests and counseling per site requirements
  • Provides office support, including scheduling appointments, organizing/preparing exam rooms, cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, checking equipment, managing referrals and prior authorizations and processing work queues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Graduate
  • Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) certification issued by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) to be obtained within 2 years
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 0 months unless not required by department leader
  • Audiology Assistant Certification (either from Nova Southeastern University or ASHA) to be obtained within 1 year
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, electronic mail and electronic medical records systems
