About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The Research/Data Scientist is responsible for conducting translational, implementation, and data science research in family medicine.
- The individual will use databases, surveys, and implementation methodologies to conduct quality improvement and intervention studies.
- Responsibilities will include all aspects of research from protocol and experimental design, study implementation in the clinical practices, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, independent grant writing and submission, abstract and manuscript preparation, and presentation at meetings.
- Performs searches in databases, analyzes data, and prepares presentations.
- Provides instruction and mentors to residents, post-doctoral fellows, students, and research associates on the fundamentals of Family Medicine research, evidence-based medicine, research principles, and methodologies.
- Develops and performs translational, implementation, and data science research projects related, but not limited, to family medicine, chronic diseases, and infectious diseases.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ph.D. with at least 5 years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the job requirements in research related to Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Economics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Geography, Implementation Science, or closely related areas preferred.
- Published in respected journals with high impact factors preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience with SAS and/or R, other data mining tools, databases, and computer programming preferred.
- Experience with healthcare claims, pharmaceutical, and EHR data preferred.
- Excellent oral, written, and technical communication skills and a solid command of the English language; Demonstrated ability to communicate complex relationships and concepts using data to drive change.
- Experience in group presentation and public speaking.
