About the role

  • Executes and supports the enterprise nursing strategic plan to accomplish organizational goals and achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Provides strategic vision, development, and ongoing evolution including emerging technologies for Advocate Health’s virtual nursing and central telemetry programs.
  • Ensures the patient care delivery models, clinical, and staffing standards are consistent with current best practice standards, compliant with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards and aligned with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Advocate Health and in collaboration with other enterprise and divisional leaders.
  • Leads enterprise nursing quality and safety initiatives to achieve top decile performance level and uses evidence-based best practices.
  • Prepares enterprise operational and capital budgets for nursing assigned areas and supports hospital leaders.
  • Builds strong, collaborative partnerships between functional areas to deliver strong operational performance.
  • Engages frontline nurses, leaders, interprofessional teams, technology partners, and vendors to foster collaboration.
  • Models ethical decision-making, integrity, and accountability consistent with the ANA Code of Ethics and AONL standards.
  • Promotes enterprise nursing excellence through Magnet® and Pathway principles, professional development, and advancement of evidence-based practice.
  • Utilizes data analytics and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Active registered nurse (RN) license in states of practice
  • Advanced Nurse Executive Certification required
  • Masters in Nursing or related field required
  • Typically requires 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare leadership
  • Three to five years of direct-patient-care nursing experience
  • Excellent written and oral communications including strong presentation/speaking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, critical-thinking and decisions-making skills
  • Strong operational, financial and business acumen
  • Ability to foresee and quickly resolve operational and organizational issues that have system impact
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft office suite or similar applications
