About the role
- Works closely with the Radiation Oncologists to coordinate high quality patient care
- Trains employees to meet standards of performance within the department
- Maintains staff schedules, evaluates staffing levels and makes adjustments as necessary to maintain established productivity levels and ensure completion of procedures and/or treatments
- Coordinates all treatment, treatment planning and room block activities
- Clinically treats patients when needed and participates in department call rotations
- Assists in patient education and counseling
- Works collaboratively with the manager to organize, plan and implement system changes, departmental improvements and annual goals
- Administers, implements, and improves policies, procedures, and processes
- Develops and implements Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
- Maintains a preventative maintenance program and understands mechanical functions of equipment
- Prepares work orders in order to assure safe, functional equipment
- Monitors daily charge activities for accuracy
- Assists in preparing budgets; monitors and operates within budget guidelines
- Ensures correct usage and compliance with national protocols and the State of Wisconsin Regulations
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale
- Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations
Requirements
- Radiation Therapy (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in radiation therapy, which includes experience as a lead or senior level staff
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and their families
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner
- Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office applications or similar products
