About the role

  • Works closely with the Radiation Oncologists to coordinate high quality patient care
  • Trains employees to meet standards of performance within the department
  • Maintains staff schedules, evaluates staffing levels and makes adjustments as necessary to maintain established productivity levels and ensure completion of procedures and/or treatments
  • Coordinates all treatment, treatment planning and room block activities
  • Clinically treats patients when needed and participates in department call rotations
  • Assists in patient education and counseling
  • Works collaboratively with the manager to organize, plan and implement system changes, departmental improvements and annual goals
  • Administers, implements, and improves policies, procedures, and processes
  • Develops and implements Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program and understands mechanical functions of equipment
  • Prepares work orders in order to assure safe, functional equipment
  • Monitors daily charge activities for accuracy
  • Assists in preparing budgets; monitors and operates within budget guidelines
  • Ensures correct usage and compliance with national protocols and the State of Wisconsin Regulations
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale
  • Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations

Requirements

  • Radiation Therapy (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in radiation therapy, which includes experience as a lead or senior level staff
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and their families
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office applications or similar products
