About the role

  • Architect and scale Groundhawk’s backend platform, building the services and data pipelines that connect field data capture with customer workflows while handling geospatial data at scale
  • Design and build backend services using Python and Node.js, evolving our API architecture
  • Build and operate data pipelines that ingest, process, and serve geospatial data at scale
  • Own and improve our microservices architecture, ensuring reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with ML engineers on processing pipelines for 3D point clouds and sensor data
  • Optimize database performance and query patterns across PostgreSQL / PostGIS
  • Drive infrastructure improvements on AWS, including observability, CI/ CD and scaling

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience with a strong backend focus
  • Deep experience with Python backend development, microservices, and REST API design
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and data modeling (experience with PostGIS is a plus)
  • Experience building data pipelines or backend systems handling large-scale data workloads
  • Solid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure, containerization, and CI/CD
  • Track record of shipping production systems used by real customers
  • It is considered a strong advantage if you have experience with geospatial or GIS technologies
  • Experience with 3D data processing, point clouds or ML pipelines
