Fulfill General Supervisor duties in a clinical molecular infectious disease laboratory
Process patient specimens using a real-time PCR platform
Analyze data and report test results
Perform equipment maintenance according to manufacturer specifications
Prepare general laboratory reagents
Monitor QA/QC records and ensure inspection readiness at all times
Coordinate with Laboratory Director and Technical Supervisor
Supervise laboratory staff
Ensure adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and other safety practices
Identify and report unsafe equipment, conditions and practices
Demonstrate competency for required diagnostic tests within 3 months of hire
Report to the Technical Supervisor and Lab Director
Requirements
Familiarity with CLIA/CAP/COLA regulatory requirements
Comprehensive understanding of PCR workflow and molecular diagnostics principles
Organized and can work independently
Microsoft Office
LIS/LIMS experience required
Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to supervise a team of employees
CLIA QUALIFICATIONS OPTIONS: MD, DO, or DPM; Doctorate, master's or bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical lab science or medical technology and 1 year lab training/experience in high complexity testing; Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical lab science or medical laboratory technology and 2 years lab training/experience in high complexity testing
1-2 years of experience in a molecular CLIA licensed clinical laboratory (preferred)
Ability to read and comprehend English and follow instructions
Good communication and critical thinking skills
Understanding of statistics
Ability to creatively think under pressure and handle high stress levels, changing environments, and possible irregular work hours
Ability to recognize potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and/or hazardous chemicals and execute safety protocols
Must be able to demonstrate competency for all required diagnostic tests and other areas of assignment within 3 months of hire date
