About the role

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department
  • Ensure compliance with fiscal policies and procedures
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment
  • Manage accounting operations to ensure timely and accurate general ledger and records
  • Analyze financial statements and other performance indicators
  • Plan and execute department strategies
  • Coordinate and collaborate with contract bookkeeping organization
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the annual financial audit and Form 990 tax filing
  • Maintain Fixed Assets and documentation
  • Create annual Form 1099 documents
  • Manage the annual budget process in collaboration with the Director of Finance & Administration and the Director of Operations & Engineering
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures relevant to work performed in the department
  • Provide recommendations for financial management and operational efficiency
  • Maintain banking and auditor relationships
  • Manage relevant accounting systems
  • Manage multi-state business registrations
  • Work closely with project managers and other staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Business Management or related field
  • 10+ years of accounting, finance, and/or business is required
  • Two years of supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in nonprofit accounting is required
  • Proficiency with enterprise resource planning systems, HRIS/payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytic skills.
