About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Sell or oversee the selling of automotive products to automotive repair shops and other commercial businesses
  • Work with District Leaders, General Managers, and key personnel to achieve goals for assigned accounts
  • Implement new Commercial Sales programs and support current programs
  • Visit assigned accounts, make sales calls, and develop approaches to meet commercial customer needs
  • Maintain the database of account sales call activity
  • Communicate with Store Team to ensure product availability, accuracy, and delivery timelines meet customer expectations
  • Provide competitive information, merchandising suggestions, and service input to business partners
  • Support the development and retention of Commercial Parts Pros
  • Assist with cleaning, organizing, stocking, POS operation, and truck loading/unloading as assigned
  • Calculate discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percentages
  • Review and analyze business reports, including profit and loss statements
  • Think strategically, analyze issues and options, and facilitate change
  • Work assigned days, evenings, and weekends and occasionally travel overnight

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Working knowledge of Advance products and services
  • Ability to market products and services to meet customer needs
  • Working knowledge of the APAL system, including Inventory Management and commercial account paperwork
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems and the traditional automotive aftermarket
  • Speak and write English; Spanish is a plus
  • Effective communication and relationship-building with customers, peers, and upper management
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals
  • Effective use of Microsoft software; Word and Excel required, PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percentages
  • Ability to review and analyze business reports, including P&L statements
  • Strategic thinking and ability to manage and facilitate change
  • Ability to work assorted days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally
  • Proven sales track record with 3–5 years of related selling experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Fleet safety certification required
  • ASE certification preferred, but not required
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to meet the listed physical and environmental demands of the role
