About the role

  • Report to the Retail Solutions Design Manager and work with internal teams across Europe to design corrugate POS that meets client budgets and retail requirements.
  • Take briefs from account managers or clients and produce sketches, 3D visuals and full specification technical drawings.
  • Work alongside design team, retail project manager and supply chain to drive projects from brief through prototype to production rollout.
  • Collaborate with account managers and production team to create concepts and ideations based on project briefs.
  • Convert chosen designs into technical phase, working on product load-ups and weight restrictions.
  • Guide material choices and provide cost-effective and alternative solutions, including sustainable design advice.
  • Ensure design timings are met and keep design and project managers updated; work with innovations manager to include insight.
  • Design and develop POS solutions using 3D visuals and sketches; place and fit artwork using client creative or brand style guides.
  • Consider production quantities and manufacturing techniques to meet budgets; stay abreast of materials, technology and processes.
  • Convert conceptual designs into manufacture-ready technical drawings and support quality control during manufacture via supplier visits or video calls.
  • Conduct and check quality reports on manufactured units before delivery and liaise with factories to ensure accurate briefing and quality expectations.
  • Build efficiency into design to reduce cost while maximising solution effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Experience in designing in the Temporary and Semi Perm point of purchase industry.
  • Strong understanding of all thicknesses and grades of corrugate and their weight thresholds, along with their limitations and best practices for corrugate displays.
  • Knowledgeable in all different types of print production methods (Offset, flex, digital, etc.).
  • Ability to build in special finishing techniques (e.g., lug ons, hot foil stamping, lights, spot gloss, etc.).
  • Coordinate 3D renderings to ensure all graphics wrap correctly and are not cut off or hidden.
  • Proficient in Solidworks to produce 3D renders.
  • Knowledgeable of ArtiosCAD or similar software to produce technical drawings.
  • Confident skills and experience in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Competent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for reporting to account teams.
  • Excellent sketching ability to communicate design ideas to presentational standards.
  • Able to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines.
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as in a team.
  • Experience working with European retailer’s design guidelines (desirable).
  • A degree in a 3D design subject (desirable).
