About the role
- Support management of the Company’s patent portfolios, including management of external law firms responsible for filing and prosecution
- Develop close positive relationships through daily contact with Innovation Teams regarding patent matters
- Conduct patent clearance analyses
- Develop prior art resources and perform patent watching, particularly competitor patents
- Support marketing and design departments on patent matters
- Provide counseling with respect to patent matters to internal stakeholders
- Assist management of outside counsel
- Assist management of patent-related litigation, including oversight of outside counsel
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed (focus on Europe and Asia)
Requirements
- Engineering Degree (preference for mechanical engineering background)
- Law degree, preferably with bar admission
- Patent bar admission
- 2-3 years law firm or in-house experience practicing in patents, including patent prosecution
- Preferably experience with multinational companies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with clients at all levels
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in area of expertise
- Strong team player
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (focus on Europe and Asia)
- Working language: English
