About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversight of design, build, development and cost control of tooling related to the injection molding process.
- Interact with customers, injection molding department, internal mold shop, external suppliers, and sub-contractors.
- Oversee, track, and coordinate tool design and build including program kickoff, engineering changes, repair jobs, and customer transfer molds.
- Develops tool design concept with tool designers and other members of engineering and production team.
- Lead cross-functional Design Review(s) to ensure customer and production requirements are satisfied.
- Coordinate and establish accurate timelines and progress reports for tool build(s), sampling activities or other engineering activities.
- Track and monitor engineering portion of mold tooling projects against quoted assumptions.
- Liaison between internal departments including, but not limited to, Quality, Molding, Process Engineering, Tool Room, Shipping, and Scheduling.
- Coordinates mold samples required to qualify new tools and the first article inspection.
- Ensures mold qualification requirements and customers mold approval needs are met.
- Communicates with customer and is the key interface between ADDMAN and customer.
- Participates in Customer meetings pertaining to tooling programs.
- Coordinates both corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
- Provides engineering support of day-to-day production and operations needs.
- Must be able to use CAD to review tool designs.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in injection mold design and build
- 3D CAD Skills
- SolidWorks is preferable
- GD&T knowledge and ability to analyze and understand customer part prints
- Ability to use statistical methods to analyze process capability
- Computer Literate with experience using Microsoft Office software such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as application specific software.
- Must be able to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
