About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Application Development team of six .NET developers building and maintaining custom applications, integrations, and internal tooling
- Drive hands-on adoption of AI coding tools, including Claude and GitHub Copilot
- Establish standards, validation practices, benchmarks, and workflows for AI-assisted development
- Coach developers on AI prompting, tool integration, and AI-native workflows
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on AI-assisted .NET development and partner with the Director of IT on broader AI initiatives
- Directly manage six .NET developers, including performance reviews, goal-setting, career development, coaching, 1:1s, and stand-ups
- Own the application development backlog and release calendar across AHS, Praxis Health, and Interpath Laboratory
- Scope, estimate, track, document, and deliver projects while managing competing priorities and resourcing conflicts
- Provide technical direction for the .NET application stack, architecture, code quality, development standards, code reviews, and QA processes
- Evaluate AI-native approaches including code-generation pipelines, AI-assisted testing, automated documentation, and LLM-integrated features
- Ensure development practices meet healthcare IT security requirements, including HIPAA safeguards, PHI handling, audit trails, and access controls
- Act as primary IT liaison for clinical, laboratory, revenue cycle, and operational stakeholders
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and IT Support Managers on deployments, environment management, and production escalations
- Partner with the Director of IT on roadmap planning, capacity analysis, and resource strategy
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of software development experience in .NET, including C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server
- 2+ years in a team lead, tech lead, or people management role with direct reports
- Demonstrated hands-on production experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent
- Clear point of view on AI-assisted development, with examples and opinions for the interview
- Experience managing software delivery in a healthcare or regulated industry environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical work to non-technical clinical and operational stakeholders
- Must reside in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho
- Preferred: experience with HL7 or clinical data exchange
- Preferred: familiarity with HIPAA technical safeguards and PHI handling requirements
- Preferred: experience building or integrating LLM-powered features
- Preferred: exposure to SSRS or Power BI
- Preferred: background supporting multi-entity or multi-site healthcare organizations
- Manual dexterity for computer and office machine operation; ability to stoop, bend, complete errands, and sit for extended periods
