About the role
- Architect and design integrated BMS and controls automation solutions, incorporating IoT, AI-driven analytics, and cloud connectivity
- Design and deliver scalable, sustainable solutions that meet customer outcomes
- Support design and integration of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Controls Automation with focus on Higher Education and Commercial smart building sectors
- Develop and deliver comprehensive architecture blueprints that integrate 1st party ecosystem products ensuring interoperability and scalability
- Provide technical insights into system architecture, networking, security, and interoperability between building control systems
- Collaborate with clients to understand requirements, conduct site assessments, support envisioning sessions, and recommend tailored solutions
- Partner with system integrators and technology vendors to support adoption and implementation of solution architectures
- Ensure solutions adhere to industry standards such as BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and cybersecurity best practices
- Work with sales, product management, and technical support to develop proposals, technical documentation, and proof-of-concept demonstrations
- Channel voice of customer back to internal teams and drive continuous innovation
- Stay up to date with emerging trends in smart buildings, energy management, digital twins, and predictive maintenance
- Report to the Senior Director of Solutions Architecture and collaborate across AIS functions
- Occasional travel to meet with customers, attend industry events, or visit project sites
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in solutions architecture, system integration, or engineering within the building automation, IoT, or smart infrastructure sectors
- Proven expertise in BMS platforms (e.g., Distech, Johnson Controls, Niagara, Schneider Electric, etc.) and control systems programming
- Applied understanding of IT infrastructure networking for BMS integration
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and edge computing
- Hands-on experience with protocols like BACnet, Modbus, KNX, Zigbee, EnOcean, LoRaWAN, MQTT
- Familiarity with data analytics, AI-driven automation, and digital twin technologies
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Preferable Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Occasional travel may be required
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving market conditions and customer needs
