About the role
- Support Products and Engineering finance within Acuity Brands Lighting and Lighting Controls
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of monthly income statements; standardize and oversee month-end close
- Review and approve journal entries and financial outputs
- Partner with Strategic Finance Advisors to validate results and respond to data/analysis needs
- Lead continuous improvement and documentation of finance operations processes (close, reporting, transaction support)
- Maintain reporting hierarchies (cost centers, products) and templates to ensure consistency and compliance
- Support Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process; report key metrics and prepare for Portfolio Management Reviews (PMRs)
- Manage and develop a team of financial managers, analysts or specialists; provide process training and coaching
- Track performance metrics and drive resolution of recurring issues through root cause analysis and corrective action
- Provide timely and structured responses to ad hoc operational finance requests from Finance leadership or business partners
- Operate in a dynamic, matrixed environment managing people and systems
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
- 6 to 8 years of work experience
- 2+ years of experience managing a team
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Advanced technical skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI
- Experience with ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle, OneStream)
- Experience with month-end close, forecasting, and reporting
- Ability to build trusted partnerships with Strategic Finance Advisors and collaborate across Finance Operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive execution of structured, repeatable deliverables in a matrixed environment
- Strong coordination and communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders (FP&A, Accounting, Engineering, Sales, Operations)
- Proficient at identifying, structuring, and solving process or data challenges; synthesize financial information into actionable insights
- Experience preparing and delivering content in Excel, PowerPoint, and other mediums
- Effective at managing ambiguity, resolving recurring issues, and driving continuous improvement
- Comfortable operating in compliance-driven environments
- MBA or CPA preferred
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Travel: Domestic and/or International 25-50%
- Physical Requirements: Sedentary work – exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally
