Lead and develop the AME-Automation Design team, directing and coordinating planning, organization, leadership, and project completion.
Collaborate with internal and external clients to capture, refine, and translate requirements into functional automation solutions.
Lead and manage multiple concurrent automation projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to technical standards.
Oversee project concepts, designs, business cases, logbooks, resource planning, documentation, and implementation.
Follow-up on permanent corrective action plans to resolve outstanding issues related to quality, production, equipment, tooling, customers, and production controls.
Define strategic direction and roadmap for automation design leveraging emerging technologies like AI/ML, computational design, and generative design.
Resolve design issues and escalated issues; coordinate with other departments as needed.
Develop and implement policies, best practices, processes, and standards in automation design and engineering.
Monitor progress against project schedules and budgets; recommend resource allocation.
Review machine capacity models and provide recommendations/solutions for capacity shortfalls.
Monthly reporting of departmental KPI metrics.
Lead and participate in team events to improve ABL processes.
Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering and/or Engineering Technology or equivalent field.
5+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry.
3+ years management experience preferred, with technical leadership skills for problem solving and conflict resolution.
Experience improving process integrity and configuring automation systems.
Experience capturing, refining, and translating requirements into functional automation solutions.
Experience leading and managing multiple concurrent automation projects and delivering on time and within budget.
Experience with project concepts, designs, business cases, logbooks, resource planning, documentation, and implementation.
Familiarity with AI/ML, computational design, and generative design technologies (preferred).
Skills in resolving design issues, coordinating with other departments, and implementing corrective action plans.
Leadership and team development experience (leading and developing engineering teams).
