About the role
- Designs and implements digital and mixed-signal circuits for professional audio/video products.
- Responsible for end-to-end PCB design including component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, hardware documentation release, board bring-up, test, debug, and system integration.
- Performs circuit simulation and signal/power integrity simulation.
- Evaluates audio performance of components and systems.
- Proposes and drives technical solutions that satisfy technical, financial, manufacturability, quality, and time-to-market constraints.
- Conducts design reviews and provides design feedback to peers and design partners.
- Creates and documents test plans for design qualification and carries out design verification and validation, documenting findings in qualification reports.
- Works closely with offshore ODMs and Contract Manufacturers and collaborates with mechanical, firmware, test, manufacturing engineers, program managers, and supply chain professionals.
- Performs hands-on prototype development, debugging, and resolution of EMC and regulatory issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience designing, troubleshooting, and testing digital and mixed signal circuits (embedded designs for the audio/video market preferred).
- Experience using CAD tools for schematic entry and layout (Altium preferred).
- Hands-on proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM, protocol analyzers, Audio Precision.
- Knowledge of microprocessor-based embedded systems is required.
- Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, I2S, PCIe, USB.
- Experience implementing design techniques to ensure the best possible signal integrity and power integrity.
- Experience generating and releasing hardware documentation (BOM, Gerbers, etc.).
- Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with simulation tools (HyperLynx, SPICE, etc.) is preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and test methods including UL, FCC, CE is a plus.
- Experience working with offshore ODMs and Contract Manufacturers highly desired.
- Must be located in or able to work in Costa Mesa, CA; Boulder, CO; or Ft. Wayne, IN (minimal travel to Costa Mesa expected for CO and IN candidates).
- Self-driven with strong attention to detail and proven track record of delivering results.
